I guess I've resigned myself to the fact that I only edit this particular page about once a year. It's nearing spring break
and I'M GOING TO ENGLAND!!! That's going to be fun. Then ITS is going to State competition in Tampa for four days. THEN
AICE is going to Alabama for a Shakespeare festival etc. Man, I'm going to be so broke when all this is over. But it's worth
it.
I haven't edited this page since summer last year. Wow, things got away from me. I am now technically a junior, or I will
be when school starts. I have a truckload of summer work to keep me busy. They love me over there at Bay High. If you
drive down Harrison, you might see my name on the Bay High sign. It says, "NATIONAL LATIN WINNERS: COLIN CURRY AND CLAIRE
HANSON." Very cool. We took the National Latin exam in February and got the results in April. It was in the newspaper
and now it's on the little billboard. I got a silver medal (though I was one question away from getting a gold, which made
me mad), and Colin got a gold. All the Latin V students took their AP exam and they're done now, which is sad, cause we won't
have them in class to help us anymore. Next year I'm in Latin IV!!
Summer is here, at last. Now I am technically a sophomore--how scary is that? Even more scary is the fact that this page
has not been updated since February 15. I mean, is my life really that boring?
Well, during the past few months, I have been involved in two plays: Cinderella, and Romeo and Juliet. It was pretty
cool hanging out with that crowd. And I got into the Drama magnet for next year, so I'll be able to hang with them even more.
There's a TRI-STAKE dance tonight!!!! I'm happy!!!!
I went to Dannielle's b-day party yesterday. It was interesting, and I found out a lot about the on-again, off-again relationships
with all the Band peeps. They're together for a week or two, then they break up and get together with someone else. I find
it all very amusing. 2/1/02
I'm not too thrilled with my math class lately. I've already taken Algebra I, and Geometry, so I should have gone into Algebra
II this year. But the stupid idiots think I'm undeveloped or something, because they put me into the Algebra I class again.
Can you say, duh? They insist that it's better if you take the class again, and everyone else my age is taking that class
again, too. But I know better. After all, my Algebra I teacher two years ago said the same thing, that I shouldn't take
the Geometry class because I hadn't gotten good enough grades the previous year. Ignoring that, I enrolled into the Geometry
class anyway. And I got a B+ average in Geometry! Hoping to shut me up more than anything else, the teachers gave me a test
to see if I could go into Algebra II before they got too far ahead. But they had me take it in a classroom full of students,
in the middle of my math class! Duh! Then my math teacher told me that I had gotten a 60 and she didn't think I was good
enough "because you had over two hours and they only have one!" NOT TRUE! I had taken an hour in a crowded classroom,
and about a half hour the day before in a classroom with someone on the phone and the teacher tutoring someone else! An hour
and a half, tops. (And she's supposed to be a MATH teacher?!?!)
