11th Grade
At Christmas time I played violin for a Christmas Contata at Grace Presbyterian (hope I spelled that right) Church. It was
fun, but man those chairs hurt my back after a while! I've started playing with the Orchestra at Saint Andrew Bay on Thursday
evenings and that's fun.
Dr. Tyson, my orchestra director, has a business playing for weddings on the beach. Since he has several overbookings, I
have been taking up his excess work. And it's a blast. I get to go to the beach for a few hours every Saturday and play.

I am now teaching violin, not just playing. Although now that Cinderella is over, I'm not playing very often. Now Drama is
doing Li'l Abner, and I've actually got a good part (I play one of Abner's cronies, and I get to sing a quintet with Justin
Corbin),so I've decided to be on the stage instead of the orchestra pit this year

I got a new job a couple weeks ago: I'm gonna be in the Orchestra for the play Drama is putting on, Cinderella. I'm the First
(and only!) Chair on Violin, and we get paid for how long we're there. At the moment I don't know how 'much' we get paid per
hour, but I don't really care!! The performances are March 21 and 22, at I think the Marina Civic Center, so be sure to come
if you can!
We got two new strings!!!! John, who was in my other Orchestra, plays viola. Paul, eleven, is another violin. We're still
waiting for a cellist, but at least I don't sound like I make as many mistakes anymore. I'm so excited!!!!!!
Colin is now in the Orchestra too. He plays celeste (I'm not sure exactly what that means) and the cello and harp parts on
his keyboard. Bet he feels special. He also is berating me for not coming to Youth activities so much, since he has Orchestra
and still makes it on time. Oh, well. Not everyone is an overacheiver (with perfect teeth and money, inside story) like
you, Colin! ;-P
We get a week off on the 12th and 14th, so I can go to the Young Women activity on Thursday. I went last week too, and we
had a very interesting Olympics night. Our team failed miserably, except for the three-legged race in which we won a round
but then were disqualified for hopping. I say, whatever gets you across the gym and back! We also played broom hockey.
Very interesting.
It is now June 10, and we still have yet to be paid. Mr. Taws said we should get the checks in the mail by Monday, May 20.
I'm beginning to doubt that, somehow . . .
